Pool A will be played at Belton High School Tiger Stadium on the corner of Loop 121 and HW 439. TEAMS: Pflugerville Connally, Austin Bowie, Temple, Waco
Two Austin-area teams are featured in Belton's upcoming State Qualifying Tournament (SQT). This will be the second SQT of the Summer for both Bowie and Connally. Both teams also made the semifinals in their last go round - meaning at least one of these teams will go home disappointed. QUARTERBACK: Dontae Harris/Austin Eschenberg Dajon Williams/Landon Nobles
Bowie's Dontae Harris has been watch for sometime as a DB. But his nose for the end zone demands that he's utiliezed on offense. Harris has received valuable chemistry building time with his receivers this Summer, and will continue to this weekend. We've seen 'Young Skate' play both sides of the ball on consecutive series - proving his conditioning is near season-form. Due to baseball and bad timing, we've yet to catch Eschenberg, but Austin gets the backing of his teammates and coaching staff.
Connally's Dajon Williams is poised for a breakout season. He's above average rolling out the pocket, and is improving his pocket prescence with Summer skill play. Dajon ran into one of the area's best defensive backfields via Westwood in his last SQT. After a grueling month long spring camp by coach Howard McMahan, its possible that fatigued played a role in their loss. With two weeks of rest, we're expecting a rejuvanated Williams. Landon Nobles enters the season as a junior, knowing his number could be called anytime.
KEY SKILL PLAYERS:
Bryson Hoskins, Brandon Scott, Tyler Walker, Jason Disney, Camara Cappel, Trent Olsen, Mac McGarah
Leo Dawson, Luther Yamthe, Dae Payton, Andrew Hill, Eddrick McDonald, Mellow McCade, Michael Egwaugu, Darrell Songy
