A morning explosion at a University of Texas-owned building in Leander sent one person to the hospital Tuesday morning.
Around 10:15 a.m., an explosion took place at the Institute for Advanced Technologies, which tests high velocity projectile impact. Officials say a pressurized gas line malfunctioned and exploded.
The building is located in the 300 block of North Bagdad Road, just south of Old FM 2243.
Five people were inside the building. None were injured; however, debris and shrapnel struck a vehicle along the road sending a man to Round Rock Hospital with minor injuries.
