Last year, we were able to feature the Stony Point Tigers opening spring camp at an unheard of date (April 23rd, 2011). Cross-city rival Round Rock High is attempting to one up their district mate in 2012.
Reports are that the Dragon Football team will hit the practice field on May 17th, 2012. Round Rock ended a 2-year playoff drought behind a young team in 2011 (falling to Westlake in bi-district). They lose senior QB Garrett Gerds, but younger brother Tyler Gerds is expected to continue the progression. ATH Sam Lawliss is reportedly over last year's injuries, and could be a forgotten weapon for Coach Jeff Cheatham.
We'll bring you coverage on Austin-area teams through April and May, as Spring Camps progress.
