Today is another example of the importance of social media. The University of Texas was evacuated earlier today due to bomb threats. However, many students/faculty members did not receive word through the University's official crisis alert system.
Officials report that all buildings at the University of Texas at Austin have been evacuated "due to threats on campus," according to an alert on the university's website Friday.
"Immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible. More information to come," a notice on the school's online emergency page and its Twitter feed said.
