6/12:13 Colorado Wildfires: At least four major wildfires fueled by hot, gusty weather Tuesday burned along the front of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, including two that together destroyed dozens of structures and chased people from hundreds of homes.
6/3/13: Over a dozen people are reported dead and many more are reported injured after at least 17 tornadoes touched down across the midwest and over the weekend. (CNN)
Veteran storm chaser Tim Samaras, 54; his chase partner of a decade, Carl Young, 45; and Samaras' son, Paul Samaras, 24, a photographer, died Friday in an EF-3 tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma. Crews hauled away their white truck Sunday. It had been crushed like a tin can, its metal frame violently twisted and its windows smashed (CNN).
May 31, 2013 became another day of deadly storms across the midwest.. at least 9 killed and many injured...Oklahoma, Arkansas, MIssouri, Illinois,Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin w/ a threat of more strong storms/tornadoes this weekend heading East... The Weather Channel vehicle got in the path of one of the many tornadoes...

Update 5/23: The death toll right now stands at 24 with 10 being children. Over 13,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. The damage is estimated to be over $2 billion.
Update 5/21: The National Weather Service says the tornado that hit Moore, Okla., was a top-of-the-scale EF-5 twister / first EF-5 for 2013 with winds of at least 200 mph. The tornado's path was 17 miles long and 1.3 miles wide.

Wednesday May 15 Granbury, TX and other areas in N. Texas was devastated by tornadoes ripping
through the area. Killing at least 6 adults, several missing, injurying over 100 and many families have been left homeless. Rescue & Recovery is going on right now. Here are a few ways you can help!
- The Red Cross is providing relief funds to the area through their general disaster relief fund. Those who wish to contribute can text REDCROSS to 90999 and give $10 to the fund.
-The Salvation Army is also providing services to the areas damaged by tornadoes. The organization is providing mobile disaster kitchens to Granbury, Cleburne, and possibly other areas. Donations to help feed survivors and Care Kits are being taken. Click here!
-Two shelters in Hood County for victims. They are located at First Christian Church, 2109 West Hwy 377 in Granbury and First United Methodist Church, 301 Loop 567 in Granbury.The group is also working to set up a shelter for victims in Johnson County.
-Hood County sheriffs say anyone that wishes to volunteer should report to the First United Methodist Church, 301 Loop 567 in Granbury. Volunteers should meet on the Loop side and look for the CERT trailer, according to a press release.

(5/17): The weather service said the preliminary storm estimate for the Granbury tornado was an EF-4, based on the Fujita tornado damage scale. An EF-5 is the most severe, but an EF-4 tornado has wind speeds of 166 to 200 mph.

The Boston Marathon Bombing happened near the finish line on Monday April 15, 2013 around 3pm . It killed 3 people and injured/severely injured more than 260 others.
Tarmerlan Tsarnaev (26) and his brother Dzhokhar (19) were accused of the bombing. Tamerlan died after a gunfight with police days later. Dzhokhar was captured and is charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and faces a potential death sentence if convicted.
