About Lolis

Lolis Garcia-Baab is a uniquely talented bilingual communications professional with a wide range of television and radio experience as a producer, writer, journalist, correspondent, and voice-over talent. Having lived in both Mexico and the United States, Lolis has a strong understanding of the Latino culture and its impact on mainstream society. Her life experiences and command of both the English and Spanish languages make her particularly adept at communicating in today's bilingual environment.

A mother of two wonderful children and wife of 12-year NFL veteran Mike Baab, she is a business and community leader and a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Lolis is making her mark through The Ladies Room With Lolis. She began doing voice-over talent work in Austin while attending the University of Texas and continued this work upon her return to Austin in 1997. Among her many clients are Southwestern Bell, Bank One, and Taco Cabana. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism, Magna Cum Laude, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

After college, she quickly rose to the ranks of Executive Producer of the March of Dimes Telethon in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. She produced and directed several 24-hour live telethons and created 18 separate vignettes on the work of the March of Dimes. She also produced and directed all the commercials related to the fundraising efforts of the corporate sponsors included GE, Revco, Cadillac, and KFC.

In 1985, Lolis became owner and producer for the World Entertainment Network in Cleveland, Ohio. WEN produced work in the entertainment, commercial and technical fields. She wrote, produced, and directed the Cleveland Browns video, "Masters of the Gridiron", which received national airtime including the Tonight Show and MTV.

Her interest in women’s health issues led her to become a partner in a successful weight loss business that she grew from one location to nine in less than three years. Lolis managed all the marketing and advertising, and created the production of classes on tape and video to reach the busy working women’s population.

The successful exposure of her production company and weight-loss business landed her a leading role on WEWS-ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio. She appeared on camera during the news and the morning show for special interest stories with emphasis on Latin America and Europe, and women’s lifestyle issues. She also captured the prestigious award of Mrs. Ohio, USA 1990-91, and was second runner-up to Mrs. USA in the nationwide contest.

Today, Lolis is active in the Austin, Texas, community with organizations such as the Women’s Symphony League, the Board of Mexi-Arte Museum, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Junior League Sustainer, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni. She performs several times a year for young children at bi-lingual elementary schools to teach them about classical music and has recently assisted in producing an educational CD called “La Sinfonica de Simon”. She has also become an in demand speaker at prestigious events such as The Texas Conference for Women, eWomenNetwork events, Women In Technology Annual Conference, Texas Association of Mexican American Chamber of Commerces annual conference and Hispance Women Network of Texas conferences.
